by the Space Coast Association of Realtors for Brevard County Florida
as of September 29th, 2007.

There are currently 10,734 residential properties for sale; 7690 being
single family homes.  The chart below breaks down the number of
closings each month going back 4 years and is current to 9/29/2007.
This will help you track the market and spot trends which may assist
with buying or selling decisions.


What I'm starting to see more & more, are sellers pricing their properties
optimally from the very beginning.  Buyers, with the help of their agents,
are recognizing the tremendous value to be captured in today's climate.
One thing is for sure, when this market turns, we will NOT see these
prices again.  Why wait?  Today is a great time to profit from an
unprecedented buying opportunity!

Currently the average home price in Florida is approx. $232,000
                                                       Brevard County  $202,000
                                                       Titusville Florida $183,000
This represents excellent value when compared with many other cities
and counties across the country.

ANNOUNCEMENT - 1890 OLD DIXIE HWY HAS A NEW FAMILY TO LOVE THIS VERY SPECIAL HOUSE. Some things are just meant to be and that is the case with this transfer of ownership.  Best wishes to Susan and Jerry at their new address.  BTW this is an 1100 sq ft house on over a half acre and sold for $95,000.

It's been many months since I first heard about Second Life.  My first response was GEE - hardly have time for my first life, why would I need a Second Life.  Then Coldwell Banker got involved and set up a virtual headquarters in the Ranchero section on the mainland.  Then they spent $50,000 marketing a real home that's listed for $3,100,000 on Mercer Island, Washington State - actually marketing it in a virtual world.  Well, that got me going and I just had to see what the hoopla was all about.  So I signed in, created my Avatar and ventured out to see what could be done with my Second Life. 

I was nothing short of amazed at what I saw; still am.  Learning to walk without bumping into people and things is the first step.  You do most of your learning at orientation - which I missed - seems I accidentally teleported to Help Island.  Oh well - sink or swim has been a lifelong theme, so what the heck it's only virtual!  Help Island is where you start to gather inventory, clothes, car, house, whatever you can get for free.  You meet people - the ones you like, you categorize as friends and they can see you when you're online.  With a headset/microphone you can speak as well.  Quickly tiring with Help Island I had one of my friends teleport me to a new location - somewhere close to where he was?  Not quite. Anyway we did hook up; since I really need new clothes he was going to take me shopping, but it was late, I had to pass and haven't had a chance to go back. 

I've only been there twice, but I think it could as addictive as ActiveRain LOL.  One of these days I might even make it over to see what's going on at Coldwell Banker.  BUT I'll definitely need new clothes.  I'm still wearing the same old thing.  This is my Avatar - Gayla McBride.  The picture's a bit fuzzy - I took a digital and couldn't get it any better. 

This could be such a great avenue for people who are housebound, lonely, or just plain have too much time on their hands.  I can't get over the ability to create anything and everything that exists in our first life.  Everything you see at SecondLife has been created from nothing.  It's a miracle of modern technology and a testament to our need to be creative.

Oh - I've heard there is a very seedy side there, haven't seen it, don't want to.  That could be a downfall - don't know yet.  Maybe I'd just better stick to selling real estate - either way!  It's just that it's so darn fascinating :-) hmmmmm

I would like to share some of the things which are special to Titusville.

My personal favorite - The Historic Emma Parrish Theater
The theater is adorable, small, great productions with
mostly local volunteer talent.  For the price of one play in
Broward County you can buy a whole season (6 plays) at
Emma Parrish, but hurry - seats are going fast.
  

Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge  occupies 140,000 acres ofestuaries and marshlands, dunes and hammocks and alligators, lots of alligators. There is a 7 mile (one-way) self guided drivethru the habitat - please don't forget your camera.  Also has hiking trails and the nearby Manatee Observation Deck.

 Canaveral National Seashore  Playalinda, 24 miles of unspoiled beach 
 not  one single condo - daily fee $3.00 per person or $35.00 for an annual
 pass (due to change in 2008).  There are several parking areas with toilet
 only.  Be warned the last area on the route is a nude beach.  Playalinda is 
 the beach where each year, from May through August,  thousands of
 Loggerhead, leatherback, and green sea turtles come ashore to lay their
 eggs.  Each turtle can lay approximately 600 eggs.  Guided tours are 
  available in this environmentally sensitive habitat.

Enchanted Forest Sanctuary  Part of Brevard County's Environmentally Endangered Lands Program it features walking and learning trails thru scrub, mesic and hydric ecosystems.  This area in Brevard is very high for Florida. You can descend 20 feet into what I call the Grand Canyon of Brevard.

 No - I didn't forget NASA and the Kennedy Space Center            
 (this website is awesome).  I was leaving the best for last.
 If you're interested, here's the launch schedule - what a
 sight to see and hear.  I live 8 miles from the Visitor Center
 Complex.  When a launch goes up, I simply open the front
 door and wait for it to clear the treetops - it's amazing. 
 Usually though, we drive down to the Indian River, scout
 for a much coveted parking spot, mingle with locals and
 travelers alike, and wait for the show to begin.

There is so much more in the way of parks, museums, wildlife and birding festivals.  People come from all over the world to glimpse of some of our exotica, it's very beautiful and peaceful.
