I am always floored by the shots you get! They are amazing, vibrant colors, rich details and you have the greatest captions! Hope you have been well!
Hey there, I miss the dragonfly--I am from Jupiter Fl and now live in NC where there is seldom sight of one... Great photo.
Hello there Ms Finley....thank you so much. You might say my photographic interest is a obsession passion. Things in Titusville are slowly moving along, but all is well. One of these days, I just know you're going make THE appearance ;-)
Hi Michele.....I think you do have plenty of dragonflies in NC, you might have to get out into some less populated areas, but they are there. Good luck, have a wonderful Sunday.
Wonderful picture. Keep up the good work.

Great photo I get to see them all the time. I would have thought them to be plentiful in NC. Have a great Sunday!
Cool photo Gail. I do like dragonflies...
Your building consultant for life in Nashville, TN
Gail great photo. I have posted very few photos myself but I have great equipment (Nikon) and take many. Could you tell me the lens you used to get this?
Gail,
Your photo is spectacular! Thanks for sharing and have a great Sunday!
Roy....thanks for stopping by, wishing you a wonderful Sunday...taking some time for yourself I hope. Glad you like this shot.
Hi Laura....They are small and sometimes you just have to set your eyes differently. I love macro photography as it teaches us to see things that can so easily escape notice.
Hi Michael....I was soooo happy to find this green one. I found an iridescent blue as well, but the sun washed him out. Maybe I can shop the color back in.
Hi Steve....I'm using the Canon XSi with my favorite lens, the Canon 100-400mm image stabilized. I did have the lens all the way out for this shot and still had to crop to get closer. Glad you like the pic :-)
Hi Dorie...thank you so much. It is a small world after all, isn't it. I'm happy you like this photo and took time to stop by today. Happy Sunday to you too!
Just amazing to see what mother nature has created!
your friend in Charlottesville Virginia!
Hi Gail:
Great photo.
By the look of the other leaves, he has been feasting there for a while!
Forget Texas... Everything is bigger here!
Morning Charles.....isn't that the truth. I could not imagine living without such amazing diversity. He is a looker isn't he ;-)
LOL @Toula...I was thinking the same thing. The bite is the same size as his head. Wouldn't it be fun to catch him with his mouth open. Something else to shoot for....LOL
Hi George....hahahaha, I won't tell GW (Gary Woltal), our little secret. Thanks for stopping by today, always appreciated.
Great picture Gail. Have you ever noticed that just before a thunderstorm, when all is still and before the wind blows, these dragonflies come out in mass.
the poor baby just needed a small snack to make it to the next tasty bush. Nice pic ma'am as always.
Gail,
That is an awesome photo! I love dragonflys---their colors are beautiful!
Gail, now that is alot of green! Munch, munch!
Good morning Ladybird! Much more beautiful to me than that weird eyed turtle LOL!! These colors are just fantastic, and I love the way your camera even caught his beautiful see-through wings! I hope you have a great Sunday, Gail!
Gail - Dragon Flies certainly ome in a wide variety of colours shapes and sizes. I love the way this one's colour matches his food source.
Very nice! Nothing like seeing Mother Nature in action.
Morning Gabe....Yes I have noticed that, funny you mention it. Until I was out in the Wetlands in the rain I had only seen the brown Dragonflies. That day in the rain, I came across beautiful green and blue ones. My pictures didn't turn out as I wanted, but now I knew where they were ;-) and went back for more. Great observation!
LOL @Don....it would appear that they have pretty voracious appetites, and look at the size of the bite would you.
Hi Cynthia....I really like them as well, but up till that day had only seen the brown ones so these were a real treat for me. I'm glad you like them too :-)
Hi Caren...hope you get to munch yourself out on the lake today. I'm catching up on a lot of commenting and have to show property this afternoon. That's OK :-)
MaryRedFeatherHead...you crack me up....hahahaha!!! What weird eyed turtle, that's Tutty and he's quite a survivor you know ;-) Oh and yes to seeing through the Dragonflies wings, I thought that was pretty neat too. Happy Sunday to you as well.
Hi Kathy...I've been wanting matched colors like this for some time now, so was very happy to get this shot. I'm happy you like it too :-)
Hey Tony...How's it going, nice to see you and I realy appreciate that you love nature too.
Love the colors in this picture Gail....just so vibrant!
Hi Gail, as always excellent photography. Nature always seems to provide good subjects. Thanks.
Hi Gail - The effort you make to get that perfect shot is amazing but it's worth it, isn't it? Sharing your excellent photos with friends is your gift to AR.
Gail,
Great shot and obviously great eyesight to see this guy with his camoflage coloring. Keep the great shots coming.
Rich
That is a terrific photo -- thanks for sharing -- all the best for a good weekend.
Another wonderful (and safe) close up, Gail! I love it.
Hi BLRGUY....thanks for the compliment. As I mentioned above I've been looking to capture this shot where flora and fauna are the same color. Have a great week.
Hello Michael....You are always so kind with your comments and I appreciate your support :-)
Hey John....LOL...yes, the effort is definitely worth the wait. You say the sweetest things. Next time we go down to the port for some fun, I'll give you a call -k
Morning Rich.....funny you say that because once he landed I did have a really hard time finding him. I'd see him then look through the viewfinder and lose him again. Good thing he sat still long enough ;-)
Hi Bob and Carolin....I'm very pleased you enjoy this photo as well, he really is a very handsome Dragonfly. You guys have a terrific week.
LOL @Chris....you're so funny with the "safe" comments. I'm always trying to be safe. Right now the gators are entering mating season, so I'm not getting close.....feel better now :-) Hope all is well.
Hi Gail, this is the coolest Speechless Sunday photo for this week, no doubt! I wish I could take photos like that!
Haha - I guess I just don't worry that one of these interesting bugs will take one of your legs in exchange for the fantastic photo. : ) I do feel much better you are keeping your distance during this season!
My 8 year old daughter would like to catch this dragonfly. She keeps catching the blue ones we have by the pool. Great photo by the way.
Howdy-Lady Gail-You certainly know how to capture nature at it's finest. This is SO close and so REAL LOL Love it. I'll be posting mine sometime soon. Of course some of it I can't post. <GRIN>
Another beauty Gail. If that was hand-held at 400mm that Canon IS really gets it done. Awesome. - Mike

Gail, that is a lovely picture! (As usual...) It was wonderful watching it load on my screen, like a slow reveal. The colors are so pretty! Thanks for another treat!
Hi Ann....that was so nice of you, thanks a bunch....practice, practice, practice ;-)
Chris...should you ever land in Titusville I will take you to the wetlands and you'll see that it's really not very scary at all ~ PROMISE!!!
Hi Wendy....I took pictures of some blue ones that day too, but they didn't come out as vivid as I wanted. I'm glad your daughter liked the green one though :-)
Hi Sharon.....what do you mean some of it you can't post? What were you doing ;-) The gift shop looked very nice.
Hi Mike...yes, I do hand-hold the 100-400 lens. I find the tripod where I go just gets in the way and I can't be as spontaneous with it. The image stabilizer works really great but I find holding my breath also helps a lot. I think I'm up to a 2 minute hold by now.....just kidding
Hi Laurie....you've been quiet lately so I'm guessing business is pretty brisk right now. Are you finding many of the REO's getting those homes staged? I think it would help. Nice to see you, glad you like this shot :-)
Gail, you must have a great camera, as this is a great shot of the dragonfly, and exceptionally great color. I keep telling myself I need to get a new camera...but alas...I keep putting if off.
Wow! great picture and the colors are gorgeous! Great job my friend, I hope all is well and that you are as busy as you want to be!
Hellooo Gail, I seem to be following Russell above around for the past few days. WOW and I mean wow on your dragonfly capture. You are an amazing talent my friend and I mean that w/ all sincerity! In fact I'm adding another WOW just for the heck of it ;)
Hi Rebecca....I bought a new camera beginning of the year and it has made a huge difference in my ability to capture the moment. Then I added the 100-400 image stabilized Canon lens and I was off to the races as they say. If you decide to get a new camera and want to talk about it, please call.
Hello there Russell....yes, things are busy(ier) and with it comes that old familiar stress. Does it always have to be that way!?! Glad you like my Dragonfly :-) Life better be treating you good or I'll have to have a word with it!!!
Hi Cutie-Pie....I'm sure Russell won't mind if you follow him around, he's a pretty social guy you know ;-) You are just tooooooooooooo nice, but WOW do I ever like it....LOL
Excellent capture, ...looks like your investment in equipment has you leading the race! Well done or should I just wowie! :)
Thanks, Jess
Hi Jess...save the wowie....give me equipment......more closings too....LOL
Hey there! Terrific Shot! His body perfectly matches the color of the leaves - Maybe he's a chameleon? Do dragonflies do that? Very cool close up shot my friend!!
Debi
Gail, I'm with Debi that is a terrific shot. I need to have my daughter teach me how to do those close up shots. She is a yucky teacher though!
Hi Gail
It's looks like lunch time.
Good luck and success.
