There is a place where MAGIC still lives and has the power to capture our souls through the majesty of setting. If I could imagine a forest where Elves, Fairies and Unicorns dwell it would surely be Pisgah National Forest in Western North Carolina. These falls, aptly named "Looking Glass Waterfall", afford one the experience of getting behind the falls providing a unique view through the veil of cascading water. Very lovely!
We were there at 5:00 in the afternoon and the lighting was just right. I used a wide angle lens at a focal length of 37mm. Aperture was F5.6, shutter speed 1/50sec, ISO speed 320, minimal post processing.
It's a beautiful series and I would like to share one more with totally different settings. You might feel you are looking into space, but this is actually the same falls. The difference is all with the camera settings. Here the shutter speed is 1/1000sec, Aperture F5.0, ISO speed 800, focal 39mm, no post processing. ENJOY :-)

MS LB - I am SO glad to see you here! And you came back with a BANG! I love the photos - and really appreciate you sharing the camera settings, too- (so we can all learn from what you've done.) When I hear of a place with a name like 'Looking Glass Falls', it makes me want to meet the person that named it. It's probably someone I would have liked :)
Good morning Miss Ladybird, and welcome back! Looking Glass Falls looks like a very enchanted place and one to match it's name. Time to get out my camera manual again and study your manual adjustments. Have a great day Gail!
Hello Gail!!! What great shots you've captured there, this place look lovely! Like Mary I must get my manual out and keep studying...thanks for sharing how you were able to get such good shots...not that I know what that stuff means, lol.
Hi Gail:

Haven't seen you in a long while!

It's been a while between posts for you Gail..But the wait was worth it.
Great photos my friend.
And welcome back!
Hello traveling beautiful lady-WELCOME BACK. YOU haven't lost your touch. You just get sweeter, like fine wine. Hope you have been having wonderful adventures while you been away. YOU deserve all of life's best. <SMILE>
She's BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!
And I see your photography skills are even sharper these days! Nice work and it's great to see you again my friend!
I LOVE that second photo of just the water falling. That's so unique. And you're right it does look enchanted. Where are the faeries and pixies? =)
Where the heck have YOU been! It is so wonderful to see you!!!!! The pictures? WOW! Breathtaking to say the VERY least!
Hello everyone....thanks so much for the warm welcome back. It's good to see all my friends again. As the song goes 'I've been out wandering' for a bit...I think I was born with a Gypsy soul. In July we bought another motorhome and decided to run get run away for awhile. I managed to work from the RV most of the time but things were quiet.
We had 27 days with rain so it was pretty special to get out on the beautiful day these pics were taken. I'm very happy that you enjoy them, it's a magical spot if you're ever in the area.
I'm not up to speed yet but should be back to somewhat normal by week's end. I'll come by and see what you've all been up to...till then
Gail
Gail - OMG - Good to see you again - missed you - your photo skills are better than ever. I guess that is what practice will do for you.
Hi Sharon,
Shucks.....thanks.....and I'm glad you like the pics. We'll talk again soon - k
Gail
Hi Gail - I'm so glad you are back! I always enjoy your posts and comments and you are a truly a very compasionate and lovely person. I love these photos and the info and when I finally get a camera like yours, I will put it to good use. My new Blackberry Bold arrives today so that should keep me busy enough for a week or two :-)

Just to share with you, here is a picture from my short vaca in the Smokies last month.
Wonderful looking pictures - especially that top one! I conjure all kinds of visions when I look at it. It's so nice to see you back Gail!
Gail- so good to see you back. And while the techno stuff is well, over my head, I point and shoot with my camera and hope for the best.... your photos, as always, are just beautiful.
I just had to peek at your photos one more time Gail. I really like the way you captured the sun dancing around the rock! I haven't had the pleasure of seeing this in person so I'll have to keep enjoying your fabulous photos!
Hi John....thanks so much for such sweet words, I'm smiling now. Cool new toy...if I get one I can call you after you've figured it all out. Nice to see you too :-)
Hey Don....you're not late to the party, the party only gets started after you've arrived. Just look at you all decked out....you look so good!
Hi Myrl....Great to see you again as well. Congrats on your new group which I have joined. I glad you enjoyed the pics. I need to sit down and go through all the trip photos, I'm in a bit of a mess.
Hello Tammy my friend....hope all has been good with you over the summer. Don't worry about the techno stuff, point and shoot is probably more fun anyway. Thanks for stopping by.
Hi Cynthia....Thank you again, peek in any ole time you like ;-) Pisgah should be a doable day trip for you; the area is known as the Land of Waterfalls....I think you would really enjoy the sights. I googled it and it's about 110 miles from Buford.
Your photos are exquisite...glad to have you back...I want so much to have more time to shoot...life sometimes just gets in the way. I look forward to seeing more of your work. thank you for sharing.
